Falassarna Beach is located in the western part of the Gramvousa Peninsula. North of the beach we still encounter the ruins of the Greek-Roman city of Falasarna. It is one of the most famous beaches of Greece and one of the most beautiful. It has been awarded in the past as the best beach of Crete and one of the 10 best in Europe.
The beach extends to a very large extent, essentially consisting of five consecutive sandy beaches. The light sand and the greenish waters are definitely a tropical landscape. The main beach is the 1Km long sand, which is the most visited, but because of the size of the hill, does not seem to be full. There are umbrellas and canteens to provide the necessary.
North of the main beach, there is a second long beach 800 meters long, which is almost the same. It is separated in the middle by a dune and a few rocks. It is quieter than Pachia Ammos and offers no comforts. Nearby you will see the chapel of Agia Paraskevi (Saint Paraskevi), next to a spring with fresh water.
The area around Falassarna is enchanting and it is part of Natura Protected Areas. If you have time and are looking for something romantic, you can wait for the sunset, which is considered as the best in Crete. How could it not be the best, within a magnificent landscape and without any visual obstacles, to interfere between the beach and the horizon?
